The HWPA
The HWPA was founded in 1927 and reconstituted in 1967 with the aim of improving working conditions for all media professionals on Britain's racecourses. It provides a link for all other professional bodies within the sport who wish to enlist the assistance of the media in promoting aspects of their work and in improving the smooth running of major meetings.
The HWPA currently works closely with the Racecourse Association, the joint committee being responsible for such matters as the issue of annual metal badges, the improvements in press facilities and the lay-out and equipping of press rooms.

Tipster Competition
2010 Tipping Competition
We are delighted that Paddy Power is supporting our annual tipping competition once again throughout the sixteen rounds that run from Cheltenham in March through to the Autumn meetings.
The competition is fierce and the leaderboard reflects the ups and downs of racing. All the major festival meetings feature in the competition and our stalwart organiser usually adds a Classics Challenge or longest odds winner event in to keep the competition lively.
In 2009 Tanya Stevenson came with a late surge to land the prestigious prize when the result was announced at the Paddy Power Cheltenham meeting in November.
Good luck to all our
entrants in 2010!
Golf News
Details of our next round of successful and well-attended golf challenges will be announced in the Spring 2010 issue of the members newsletter.
Annual Derby Awards Lunch
The perennial 'it was the best ever!' rang through the Lancaster London after our annual showcase event brought the house down in December 2009.
Make a note in your diary for Monday, 06 December 2010 when we look forward to a repeat performance! Bookings will open in August. Be there!
